On Thursday, June 2, “Torontonians” attended the 15th Annual Scrubs in the City event, co-presented by TD and Mantella Corporation to benefit The Hospital for Sick Children where guests decided whether they are royal or rebel, punk or posh, ‘toff’ or tough.
Both sides of London were calling and guests were invited to come as the London they are, or want to be, and eat, drink and donate to the heartbeat of the city. Evergreen Brick Works was transformed with food, fashion and entertainment featuring the contrasts of London.
SickKids is Canada’s leading centre dedicated to improving children’s health and home to Canada’s largest, hospital-based child health research institute, caring for more than 100,000 patients every year. By attending Scrubs in the City 2016, guests were contributing to such a great cause.
They raised funds for a new 3T MRI machine at SickKids. Quieter, faster, bigger, and more powerful, it will make the MRI experience less stressful for kids and family and give SickKids clinicians the best-in-class technology to deliver best-in-class care. Last week’s event was record breaking, with having raised $800,000.
Guests enjoyed surprise musical entertainment that featured music from the Beatles, David Bowie and others really set the tone.
The delicious food and drinks showcased lamb and rice and British potpie. Some other highlights of the evening included TD Bank’s Gold theme with couches and decorations, Ben Sherman’s British theme patterns that really caught the attention of many who enjoy their clothing line, the telephone booth, and of course the Royal high tea!
An exclusive silent auction was available to guests and non-guest alike including luxury one-of-a-kind items such as a Mulberry Kite Tote in Midnight Haircalf, a 14 Karat White Gold and Diamond Ring and an 18 Karat White Gold and Diamond Bangle Bracelet from Mark Lash, or two night’s accommodation in an Owner’s Suite at the Fairmont Pacific Rim.
