SMASHING PUMPKINS | Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour @ Scotiabank Arena (Aug 8, 2018)

With the rampant rumors of personnel reunions, Billy Corgan’s Smashing Pumpkins positioned itself as back to classic form with the “Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour”.

Corgan started off the show with an acoustic version of  “Disarm”, a possible tie to his solo acoustic tour, aptly titled, WPC (WILLIAM PATRICK CORGAN) – The Ogilala Tour.

With 3 hours worth of music, deep cuts and first song performances satisfied the Pumpkin faithful, including James Iha’s Pisces Iscariot cut “Blew Away”, Machina single “Try Try Try” and “Eye” off the Lost Highway soundtrack.

Before the tour announcement, Corgan utilized social media cleverly for his faithful audience, asking for suggestions for music covers, his response?  Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven”, David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” and previously covered Fleetwood Mac classic “Landslide”.

With the encore, Corgan also acknowledged the audience with a “thank you” to Toronto’s RUSH, who ignited the high school friendship between Corgan and drummer Chamberlain in late spring 1988.
