Classifying his interpretation of the genre “Yacht Rock”, Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner brought his smooth, silky progressive vibes to a Toronto Gen Z-Millennial crowd eager to groove to the MTD custom shop 6-string bass aficionado.
Unbeknownst to the younger generation who have never heard 70’s soft rock fare “Mellow Mafia” acts such as Christopher Cross, Toto, America, Doobie Brothers/Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins or Canadian legend Gino Vannelli (who got a shout out), the complex jazz arrangements, soul-tinged R&B, funk and 70’s psychedelic progressive elements disguise Thundercat’s “Yacht Rock” musical linguistics for the new generation.
